WE WON!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 27, 2008

TORONTO PHOTOGRAPHY AND DESIGN DUO, SEED9, SNAG BEST OF CATEGORY AT THE 2008 DESIGN EXCHANGE AWARDS.

Toronto firm Seed9, wins Best of Category for Visual Communications: Content Development and Editorial in the 2008 Design Exchange Awards for its creative work, Art vs Commerce - The Creative Industry Series.

"We are thrilled. This project was our response to art buyers who told us that separating artistic work from commercial work was the only way to go. By combining them, we created a piece that was a more accurate representation of our ability to marry the two successfully." remarked Ingrid Jones, partner and art director for the firm.

The Design Exchange Awards are Canada's only award program to judge design by results, balancing function, aesthetics and economic success.

"Seed9 is not a conventional team - we are an art director from Canada and a photographer from Germany. Starting out people told us that we’d never be hired in the North American market in this type of partnership. They were wrong. While we have success working individually for many of our clients, some of our most interesting experiences have been with firms that hired us both simultaneously to work on projects. They took advantage of our invitation to share information back and forth to get the best out of the given task." adds partner and photographer, Thomas Bollmann.

Seed9 is the partnership of Ingrid Jones, Art Director and Thomas Bollmann, Photographer. Services offered by the firm include: on and off set art direction, photography, pre and post-production and graphic design. Their clients include, St. Joseph Media, Transcontinental Media, Charité Hospital Berlin and UOFT. Their winning entry for the Design Exchange Awards will be part of an ongoing exhibition at the Design Exchange located on 234 Bay Street, Toronto until March 22. 2009.
